Look for signs of fall. Despite boiling temperatures and saunalike humidity, see if you can detect the early signals that a new season is in the offing.Is the air in the morning a little chillier than it was a month ago, even though the afternoons are just as hot?

a slight breeze whip up in the afternoon, with the promise of a much cooler one a month from now? How about the clouds? What do they look like? Do they still hold their fluffy summer pattern, or is the sky showing the first signs of winter storms?

Look closely at the light. Does the angle of the sun as it reflects off the ground or a window or a clump of trees remind you of another season?

Do leaves rustle on the branches of trees, even though they haven’t yet turned or fallen? Does the air have a different quality from that which it had in July? Keep watching, and within days you’ll see unmistakable signs that another season is ushering itself in.
